Carlisle deserves to know since he’s the one who gave me a place to stay and saved me from becoming a rogue. But I am scared of getting banished again and losing the only reason I have for living: my baby. 

Ruth nods, “I understand. Carl won’t hurt you or the child. But it will create complications which I am worried won’t be limited to the relationship between you both. It can go beyond that since the child is not his, and you are his mate.”

My heart thumps in my chest as I realize what she means. If I am meant to become Carlisle’s Luna in the future, then my pup will be an illegitimate heir to the throne. Even if I refuse to become his Luna, doesn’t guarantee that my child won’t face threats in the future. As long as I am Carlisle’s fated mate, my child will be a target for those, who want us gone. 

I look down at my lap in sadness, “I don’t want to complicate Alpha Carlisle’s life. He is my second chance mate, but he deserves someone who can truly love him, someone who is not broken like me.” My 

thumb traces the subtle patterns on my long brown skirt. “I am not after his power. I just want to provide a safe and peaceful life for my child.” 

“I see,” Ruth’s eyes narrow as she rests her chin on the back of her hand, “So you plan to leave him?” she asks, and my fist curls. 

“I know that’s unfair to him. But I don’t know what else to do,” I respond, biting my lower lip. 

“Fair enough,” she straightens her back, and her brown eyes stare at me, “If the circumstances were different, I would have stopped you from making such a decision. But I understand where you come from. There’s a small village I know which is mostly ruled by humans. It’s

My eyes light up, and I hold her hand, “Please tell me what place it is.” “Willowbrook. That’s the name of the village. There’s a train leaving from the main station tonight at eight. If you can take it, then you’ll reach Willowbrook in three days.” 

“At eight tonight,” My lips purse, “That’s six hours from now.” 

She nods, “The problem is that the train is not always available, as not many people take that route. So you might not get another train if you miss this one.” 

“Then I’ll board it today,” I say with determination. 

“Are you sure?” Ruth asks, her voice tinged with concern. 

“Yes.” My eyes brighten with hope. I will be able to provide a good environment for my child. 

“What are you so sure about?” A deep voice asks from behind as a broad shadow falls on the floor. Ruth’s eyes widen as she looks ahead, and my heart leaps in my throat as I realize who it is. I look past my shoulder, and find Alpha Carlisle standing behind me.
