Deborah sighed sadly, then gave her cheeks a firm pat and chastised herself. ‘Come on, now is not the time to dwell on the past. I need to focus on getting away from him.”
She returned her focus to her work, and by 7 PM, she shut down her laptop and headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Roger had said he wanted to talk tonight. As she finished setting the table, the doorbell rang, surprising her since no one visited at night.
