Before Stephen could even speak, Palge stopped, “Divorce? Absolutely not! She’s such a lovely woman! There’s no way you’re getting a divorce!”

With that, she actually started bawling.

Paige’s sobs ceased immediately as she asked, “Do you mean it?”
“Yes.”
“In that case, you should bring her home to dinner tonight and introduce her to. everyone in the Lockhart family!”
Stephen remained silent.
Paige continued her tantrum, saying, “If you don’t agree, I’ll cry my eyes out!”
Sasha chimed in with a grin, “It seems like Grandma has taken quite a shine to Abigail, Stephen. Maybe you should give it some serious thought. After all, marriage is kind of a big deal.”
Stephen’s expression immediately became grim,
Abigail watched the scene play out, feeling touched by the unexpected affection. from a stranger. An elderly woman she barely knew cherished her, yet Stephen was still set on leaving her.

After comforting Paige, Stephen turned to Abigail and said, “Let’s go.”
Abigail’s lashes fluttered momentarily before she turned to Paige and said, “You should get some rest, ma’am. I’ll make time to come see you again.”
Paige nodded and looked at her with anticipation, saying, “You must come, okay?”
“Will do, ma’am.”
Abigail’s heart swelled with affection–Paige was simply too endearing!
As they stepped out of the hospital, Stephen stated curtly, “Tell them you’re tied up with something else and can’t go for dinner tonight.”
Abigail’s expression momentarily faltered. It was clear he didn’t want her to meet his family. Did he consider her that much of a disgrace?
“What if I say I’m going anyway?”
Stephen’s expression turned grim as he met her gaze. “Abigall, don’t take things too far, or you’ll end up regretting it.”
Abigail smirked and said, “We’re still legally married, aren’t we? Now that you’ve reunited with your family, wouldn’t it be natural to introduce me to them? Unless, of course, there’s someone else you have in mind.”
Stephen gazed deeply at her, then smiled and said, “Alright then, I’ll take you to meet
them.”
His abrupt shift in demeanor caught Abigail off guard. Nevertheless, a glimmer of hope surfaced within her, believing that meeting his parents meant that she was being accepted into his family.
Did this mean that he had changed his mind about the divorce?
