Chapter 12 Disdainful Attitude
“Come downstairs,” Stephen said coldly and immediately hung up the phone.
Before Abigail could even get a word in, the call ended abruptly, leaving her staring at the blank screen with a grimace.
How infuriating! He was so much nicer when he had amnesia!
As she made her way down, the evening sun bathed her in its warm glow, enveloping her in a soft, orange light that made it seem as if her hair was glowing.
However, Abigail’s smile immediately faded when she realized that it wasn’t Stephen standing by the car.
“Where’s Stephen?” she asked as she walked over.
Jamie replied, “Mr. Lockhart has other matters to attend to, so he sent me to escort you to Lockhart Manor.”
Upon hearing that, Abigail’s heart suddenly sank. What could be more important than taking her to meet his parents?
She pursed her lips and got into the car. After that, she immediately took out her phone and called Stephen. However, he didn’t pick up.
What a jerk!
Abigail clutched her phone, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside the window.
Before long, the surroundings quickly transformed into a breathtaking landscape. Lockhart Manor was situated south of Tilendo City. It was a beautiful estate nestled amidst mountains and rivers, creating a truly picturesque setting.
After the car drove through the imposing black and gold main gates, it pulled up before a stately villa. A uniformed household staff approached and opened the car door with practiced grace.
As Abigail stepped out of the car, her eyes momentarily widened in astonishment at the scene before her. It was such an extravagant display of wealth.
She had only heard about the Lockhart family in the past and had never had the chance to meet them. Now that she had seen their extravagant lifestyle, she realized how different their lives were.
“Please come this way, Ms. Lloyd,” Jordan Burke, the household staff, said to her. He
spoke with a condescending tone, and there was a flicker of disdain in his eyes.
Abigail furrowed her brow and stated, “I’m Stephen’s wife. You should address me as Mrs. Lockhart.”
In response, Jordan simply turned around and walk
away.
Even though she was slow to react, Abigail could sense Jordan’s disdainful attitude.
She entered the villa with her lips pursed into a slight frown.
She felt a little uneasy in the unfamiliar surroundings. As she entered the foyer, she found herself in a small parlor.
Jordan instructed, “Please wait here a moment. Mr. Lockhart should be back soon.”
With that, they turned and left.
Abigail immediately sat on the couch, her hands resting neatly on her knees as she tried to calm herself down.
She kept telling herself that it didn’t matter. After all, it was merely Jordan’s attitude. It didn’t represent the attitude of all the Lockharts.
At that moment, several more people entered, and among them was Sasha.
Upon seeing Abigail, Sasha’s face lit up with a smile. “You made it, Abigail! What are you doing out here? Come on, let’s go inside
Abigail got up, looking reserved and humble as she greeted, “Good evening, Mrs. Lockhart.”
Sasha smiled and said, “Allow me to introduce you. This is Stephen’s father, Zachary
Lockhart.”
Abigail glanced at the austere–looking middle–aged man standing beside Sasha. A single glance from him was enough to make her feel an overwhelming pressure.
“Is Candace not here yet?” Zachary asked.
“Stephen went to pick her up,” Sasha explained.
Zachary merely grunted in response and made his way directly into the spacious living room.
Sasha turned to Abigail and said, “Come on, let’s wait in the living room. This is where the household staff take their breaks.
A look of embarrassment quickly flitted across Abigail’s features. She couldn’t help but wonder if Jordan had brought her there intentionally.
Upon stepping into the grand living room, she saw extravagant crystal chandeliers. adorning the vaulted celling. The room exuded an air of understated opulence.
“Please have a seat. Stephen should be back soon.
Abigail happened to pick up on the name of the woman they were talking about earlier, the one Stephen had personally gone to pick up. Could she be the same person that she was thinking of?
About half an hour later, another flurry of activity came from the entrance, followed by the arrival of two individuals.
Stephen walked ahead, followed by the woman that Abigail had previously seen in the private room.
That woman was none other than Candace.
