Chapter 40 Abigall’s Public Humiliation
Hugh stared at her in amazement. She had been entirely different at the bar that night, drinking recklessly and excessively.
“It’s fine,” he remarked. Then, he looked at a clothes before adding, “Was this time
unintentional too?”
Abigail felt even more embarrassed. “This tone, it was unintentional. How about you remove your clothes, and I will clean them for you?”
He laughed at her words. “Here?”
She frowned. “I’m Abigail Llyod from Deluxion Corporation. You can send your clothes to my workplace, and I’ll return them to you after cleaning them.”
Her sense of boundaries was spot on.
Hugh repeated her name in his heart before responding, “Alright, I’ll remember you.”
With that, he turned and left.
Finally, Abigail let out a sigh of relief. She was glad that he didn’t pursue the issue because she didn’t want any more problems.
Candace looked down from the second floor and was surprised to see Abigail. She squinted her eyes when she saw Abigail’s lack of jewelry and simple attire. She guessed that Abigail had sneaked into the party.
Anyone who was found uninvited would be tossed into the sea.
Abigail continued her search and eventually found Philip on another floor. He was conversing merrily with a few other people.
Since there were many people surrounding him, she couldn’t simply approach him.
Abigail waited a short distance away, eagerly awaiting a chance to talk to him.
As the night progressed, the faint sound of waves could be heard as the pitch–dark water hit the cruise. Just then, Philip began to move, along with a few others, to another area of the ship.
Upon seeing this, Abigail became nervous and immediately rushed forward.
“Hello, Mr. Snow. My name is Abigail Llyod from Tilendo City’s Deluxion Corporation branch, and I’m also in charge of the Cubeshack project. I’d like to discuss the design
thoughts and ideas for the project with you. I believe that no one knows it better than I do.”
She blocked Philip’s path and let all her words out in one breath before waiting for his response.
Philip’s smile faded somewhat. “But I’ve already gotten a better design. I don’t want to see yours.”
“What you’ve received is my design…”
He interjected, “That’s your issue. Please don’t waste my time.”
At this point, two waiters approached her and asked, “Do you have an invitation?”
Abigail’s expression froze.
Philip walked away. She wanted to follow him, but the two waiters stopped her.” Hold on, please show us your invitation!”
Their loud shouts caught everyone’s attention.
“I…”
Abigail was ready to explain herself when she saw two people in the distance.
It was Stephen and Candace. They looked like a perfect match as they stood together. He was attractive and tall, while she was gentle and elegant.
At that moment, Abigail felt very ashamed. She felt like a joke as she was watched by everyone, and coincidentally, Stephen had to be there too.
She wondered if he would ridicule her for overestimating herself. The thought made her clench her fists tightly.
The waiter’s tone became increasingly hostile. “Please show me your invitation. If you fail to do so, we’ll have to follow the regulations and dump you into the water!” From afar, Stephen downed his glass of champagne and strode toward Abigail.
