Chapter 52 Are We Still Getting Divorced?
All of a sudden, Stephen stopped. Abigail’s gaze was making him very uncomfortable.
“I really don’t understand what is going through your mind.” In a soft voice, she asked, “Are we still getting divorced?”
At that moment, Stephen pursed his lips. Without warning, he got off her, got out of bed, and headed straight to the bathroom.
Abigail blinked and exhaled heavily.
They shouldn’t be like that again.
Since the decision had been made to get divorced, they should just get along with it.
That way, they could both feel better.
By the time Stephen came back out, Abigail had already left. She didn’t even stay for breakfast.
She simply sent him a WhatsApp message that read, “I’ll be waiting for you at the courthouse entrance.”
The expression on Stephen’s face made it look like he was covered in a layer of frost. He carried an air of frigidity.
Grayson walked into the room and took a quick glance all around. In a perplexed voice, he asked, “Mr. Lockhart, has Ms. Lloyd left?”
In fact, Grayson was aware of Abigail’s visit last night. It was just that he was pre- informed not to show himself even if he heard anything.
He thought that he would be able to see Abigail this morning, but it turned out that he was wrong.
Stephen put his phone away. The look on his face turned even colder. “Are you having too much time on your hands?”
Grayson could feel the unfriendliness that he was giving off. He shut his mouth immediately and stopped speaking.
It seemed like things didn’t go too smoothly.

picked her phone up and noticed that it was Eloise calling.
“Hello?”
Eloise mumbled, “Where are you, sweetie?”
Abigail shared, “I’m out. Go back to sleep if you’re still sleepy.”
Eloise replied, “I’ve got work today. I’m gonna get up.”
Abigail said, “Go ahead and heat up breakfast for yourself, then. After you’re done with work, come over again tonight. I can’t finish all the food on my own. It’ll also be a good chance for us to go take a look at the new place.”
“Sure.”
Eloise agreed readily.
After hanging up, Abigail looked out the window. She was moving further and further away from Lockhart Mansion. Yet, the hurt in her heart lingered.
This was the last time, she thought to herself.
She was definitely not going to allow herself to let loose again.
After signing their divorce papers today, she would tender her resignation. From then on, they would no longer have anything to do with one another.
After she arrived, she stood at the entrance and waited. There were many people who came to the courthouse. A long line had formed at the marriage registration counter soon enough.
Staring at that exceptionally long queue, Abigail spaced out for a moment.
It was as if she saw how she and Stephen looked when they came to get their marriage registered.
They were both elated, excited, and full of hope for their blissful future.
Abigail pursed her lips and diverted her gaze elsewhere. She took a glance at the time. It was already 9:30 am.
Stephen wasn’t here yet.
What was he trying to do?
Right away, Abigail called him. But, he did not answer her call. The call was even cut off automatically.
What was going on?

Abigail knitted her brows together. She started to feel a little impatient.
Why was he dilly–dallying with their divorce? It was not manly of him to act that way at all!
At half past ten, Stephen finally replied to Abigail. She could almost spit nails when she saw his message.
He said, “I have to go on a last–minute business trip. I should be back in a week.”
Abigail took a few deep breaths as she tried her best to regain her composure. She told herself that she shouldn’t be angry. If she flared up, the only person who would get hurt was herself.
But, he was such an annoying bastard!
Of all times, he was going on a business trip now?
No, this divorce had to happen!
Abigail dialed Jamie’s number immediately.
“Hello, Ms. Lloyd,” Jamie answered very promptly. His greeting to her was polite and distant.
“Where is Mr. Lockhart going for his business trip?” Abigail asked.
Jamie asked back, “What’s the matter?”
Abigail answered coldly, “It’s a matter of life and death. Do you have more questions for me?”
Jamie widened his eyes slightly. Was this the matter of life and death that he was thinking of?
If it was, then he could actually reveal the information to her.
