Chapter 71 The Doors Are Locked
It was already deep into the night, with complete silence all around. There wasn’t even a single person around, let alone a cabin sight.
The strange phone call Abigail had received earlier made her feel even more uneasy.
She tightened her grip on her bag and said, “We’re getting divorced soon. Isn’t it a bit inappropriate for me to stay at your place?”
“Well, are we divorced yet?” Stephen asked, looking at her.
“No.”
“Then what are you hesitating for? Are you afraid you won’t be able to control yourself and pounce on me?”
Abigail looked at him as if he were crazy. “Hah! You’re really self–absorbed!”
With that, she headed straight for his car.
Pounce on him? That was never going to happen.
As Stephen watched her retreating figure, his smile deepened.
At Lockhart Mansion, Grayson, who had been informed of Stephen’s return, had the
mansion well–lit.
As soon as Abigail walked in, she saw Grayson. She suddenly remembered something and asked, “Have you been here the whole time?”
Grayson was about to nod but then noticed Stephen’s gaze. He stiffened and quickly said, “I’m heading home. I’m just waiting for Mr. Lockhart to return.”
He looked at Stephen and said, “Mr. Lockhart, since you’re back, I’ll take my leave.
now.”
“Okay, drive safely,” Stephen replied.
Grayson turned and left.
Abigail stared suspiciously at Grayson’s retreating figure. Something didn’t seem right, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Stephen asked, “Aren’t you tired?”
Abigail snapped back to reality and blinked. “Where am I supposed to sleep?”
“There are plenty of rooms here. You can choose any room you like.”
Abigail nodded and started trying to select a room However, when she reached for the door, she found it looked
She tried another door, but it was also locked
What was going on? So many rooms, yet none of them would open?
She turned to Stephen, who was already heading toward the master bedroom
“Hey!” Abigail called out, but he didn’t stop
She hurried over and blocked him. “Did you not hear me?
“Don’t I have a name?” Stephen looked at her indifferently.
Abigail was momentarily taken aback. “Why are all the doors locked?”
“I just got back. I don’t know.”
Abigail was stunned. “So where am I supposed to sleep?”
Stephen opened the master bedroom door and said, “This one will open.”
Abigail was at a loss for words.
Something felt very wrong.
Yet Stephen didn’t look at her. He walked into the master bedroom and began unbuttoning his shirt.
He then removed his tie and tossed it aside, followed by his shirt and jacket.
As Abigail watched, her heart inexplicably raced.
His physique was truly striking. Even such simple actions made him look alluring
She found herself struggling to keep her composure.
Well, she was initially attracted to his looks. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have took him in.
“Is watching me enough to satisfy you?” Just then, Stephen’s deep, pleasant voice broke her reverie.
Abigail snapped back to reality. Her pale face flushed red at once. “Who’s watching you?”
She marched in and flopped onto the couch,
Though other rooms were inaccessible, she would absolutely not sleep in the master bed. That would just be putting herself in danger.
Stephen watched her actions and chuckled softly. When he walked over, his shirt
was completely unbuttoned.
