Chapter 84 Hugh’s Keen Sense of Smell
The lighting inside the private room was dim. Abigail leaned in slightly, trying to get at closer look.
Immediately, she saw Stephen sitting on the couch and leaning back slightly. Candace was seated next to him, gently wiping his forehead with a tissue. They looked intimately close..
Abigail narrowed her eyes. She saw Candace stand up and grab something. Candace seemed unsteady on her feet. She stumbled and fell directly onto Stephen’s lap.
“Do you want to record it?” a teasing voice suddenly whispered in Abigail’s ear.
Abigail jerked her head around and saw Hugh, who had somehow mimicked her posture, leaning forward with narrowed eyes to peer inside. He was taller than her, but when he leaned forward like that, their heights were almost equal. When she turned her head, she nearly bumped into his face.
Startled, Abigail quickly pushed him away. “No, there’s no need.”
Hugh slowly straightened up, chuckling as he observed her flustered reaction. You’re not going to record it? How do you plan to gather evidence then?”
Abigail composed herself. With a smirk, she confidently opened the door to the room
and walked in.
Only Stephen and Candace were inside the room. As soon as Candace had fallen into his arms, he had pushed her away.
“Be careful,” he said in a low voice.
Just as Candace steadied herself, the door to the room opened.
Abigail walked in holding her phone. “Hey, why stop now?”
Stephen’s gaze darkened when he saw her. When his eyes swept over Hugh behind her, his demeanor turned cold and restrained.
Seeing Abigail with her phone up, Candace hurried over. “Ms. Lloyd, what are your doing?”
Abigail blinked innocently. “I’m capturing evidence of Stephen’s affair. When we divorce, I’ll get a substantial share of his wealth!”
With that, she would instantly become wealthy.
Chapter 64 Hugtis Keen Sense of Smit
Candace’s expression darkened. She reached for Abigail’s phone, but Abigail evaded
her grasp.
Candace’s eyes flickered. She stumbled and fell.
“Candy!” Stephen exclaimed. He rushed over to help her. “Are you okay?”
Candace’s face was pale. “My leg hurts…”
Stephen helped her sit on the couch and then turned to glare at Abigail.
Abigail hadn’t anticipated things would escalate like this. “Luckily, I recorded everything. I didn’t touch her. She fell on her own!”
Candace softly said, “It was indeed my own carelessness, Stephen. I didn’t want anything harmful to you from her, so I rushed to grab her phone. I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.”
As her words fell, Stephen’s face grew even darker and more grim.
Hugh remarked casually, “I smell a faker here.”
Abigail looked at him and said, “You seem to have a keen sense of smell.”
“Sort of,” Hugh replied.
Abigail nodded. “You sound like quite the expert. What should I do in a situation like this?” she asked.
Hugh rubbed his chin. “In situations like this, there’s no foolproof solution. It depends on whose side he leans towards. If he supports you, it wouldn’t matter even if you pushed her. But if he’s against you, he’d still blame you for dodging even if you didn’t push her and filmed it as evidence.”
Abigail gave him a thumbs–up. “You’re quite the expert!”
Although she wore a smile on her face, a bitterness crept into her heart.
She wondered if Stephen would lean toward her, yet ironically, the answer was undoubtedly a no.
Since he had already used her as a shield for Candace, it was certain that he wouldn’t side with her.
