Chapter 89 Why Have You Lost Favor?
Ryan felt Stephen’s icy chill. Doubt and struggle flickered in his eyes, but he still refused to speak.
Stephen’s gaze remained cold. “Refusing to speak, are you? Then, leave. Don’t ever show your face in front of me again.”
“Mr. Lockhart!” Ryan panicked at the command. Stephen had saved his life, and Ryan had sworn to work for him forever.
Grinding his teeth, Ryan said, “I also found out that Ms. Lloyd was being followed by a man. She tried to run, but he dragged her into the woods. Hugh showed up and saved her.”
Before Ryan could finish, Stephen’s fist slammed into his face.
Ryan fell to the floor, clutching his face in pain. He quickly knelt.
Stephen grabbed him by the collar. “Who gave you the right to hide it from me?”
Abigail had truly endured those horrors. Yet, all he had done was hurt her. After shel had narrowly escaped death, he had only added to her pain with his harsh words and mistaken judgments about her and Hugh..
Rage burned inside him, making his demeanor colder and more intense. His eyes turned a deep red as memories of the past year with Abigail flooded his mind. The more he thought about it, the stronger the painful emotions became.
Sweat beaded on Ryan’s forehead. “Mr. Lockhart, I only want you and Ms. Blue to be happy…”
“When did it become your place to decide what I want?” he scolded.
Stephen’s anger was palpable. He released Ryan, straightened up, and said coldly,” Ryan, if you’re going to act on your own ideas, you no longer have a place working for me.”

“Mr. Lockhart!” Ryan’s eyes widened in panic as he watched Stephen leave. However, Stephen ignored him completely.
Ryan was stunned. He couldn’t grasp what he had done wrong, especially since. Stephen had always cared about Candace. Abigail’s appearance was just an unexpected complication, so he couldn’t understand why Stephen was so enraged.

On the other end, Justin’s voice dripped with mockery. “Well, well, sounds like you’ve fallen out of favor. How delightful! You used to be Stephen’s right–hand man, always in control. Now you’re the one in trouble. Quite a turnaround, isn’t it?”
Feeling frustrated, Ryan replied, “Mr. Fairchild, I’m not joking.”
Justin continued to laugh, saying, “I’m not joking either. But seriously, why have you lost favor? Tell me what happened. I’m curious to hear why you’re in this mess.”
Ryan considered hanging up but took a deep breath and explained the situation.
Justin fell silent for a moment, then said, “Ryan, you’re really a fool. It’s a miracle you’ve lasted so long with Stephen!”
Ryan frowned and asked, “How am I a fool?”
Justin replied, “In this case, if you’re not a fool, who is? This is a matter of life and death, and you kept it hidden? Forget about Stephen and Candace for a moment.
“Consider how Abigail had risked everything to bring back the amnesiac Stephen. You should have never handled it like this!”
