Chapter 93 Jamie’s Overthinking
Shortly after Abigail sat down at her desk and started working on her computer, the office chatter around her suddenly stopped. She turned in confusion and saw Stephen standing beside her.
Her expression faltered. “Mr. Lockhart, what can I do for you?”
Stephen looked at her and said, “I need to talk to you. Follow me.”
Abigail nodded. “Sure.”
Stephen fell silent. She had told Jamie she was too busy over the phone just now,
yet now that he was here in person, she suddenly had time.
Stephen pursed his lips in frustration.
Abigail followed Stephen into the CEO’s office. Jamie shot her a look full of
discontent, but Abigail ignored it completely
Once inside the office, Abigail maintained a blank expression and asked, “What’s the matter, Mr. Lockhart?”
Stephen maintained his cold and aloof demeanor as he said, “I know about what happened that night. I’m willing to meet the conditions you mentioned.”
“Okay,” Abigail replied flatly.
Stephen raised an eyebrow. “Is that all you have to say?”
Abigail responded, “Mr. Lockhart, do you expect me to be grateful just because you
paid for my life? What kind of reaction are you looking for?”
Stephen was momentarily speechless. The office fell into an awkward silence.
After a long pause, Abigail said, “If that’s all, I’ll be leaving now.”
“Fine,” Stephen replied curtly.
Abigail turned and left without a second thought. Stephen rubbed his temples, his expression growing colder by the moment.
As soon as she exited the CEO’s office, Jamie spoke up. “Ms. Lloyd, did I do something to upset you?”
“Huh?” Abigail looked at him in confusion. “What are you talking about?”
Jamie was taken aback by her answer. He wondered if he was overthinking it

because it felt like she was insulting him.

With a face like he had swallowed something bitter, Jamie finally asked, “Ms. Lloyd, why did you say you were busy when I called you earlier?”
Abigail blinked, “Because I was busy,” she replied.
Jamie was speechless.
Since he had nothing more to say, Abigail added, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now.” Without waiting for his response, she turned and walked away.
After Abigail returned to her desk, she fell into deep thought. It didn’t matter that Stephen knew about what happened that night. He still hadn’t apologized. He blamed her and moved on without a hint of regret. She questioned what more she could realistically expect from him.
Abigail scoffed at herself. Clearly, she didn’t matter to him at all. She likely didn’t even compare to a single strand of Candace’s hair.
Closing her eyes, Abigail pushed aside her chaotic thoughts and refocused on her work. At noon, she recalled the package at the bottom of her drawer. She had completely forgotten about it until Hugh reminded her earlier. She assumed the package must be Hugh’s clothing.
Abigail wondered how to clean such expensive clothes.
Opening it, she found a slightly wrinkled shirt and suit jacket. She pulled out her phone to search for cleaning instructions. After finding the proper method, she packed the clothes to take home for a thorough cleaning.
In the afternoon, Abigail clocked out and took the elevator down. When the doors. opened, she saw Stephen standing inside, staring at her.
