Chapter 94 To Hell With Eating
After a brief moment of hesitation, Abigail reluctantly walked over.
It was just Stephen and Jamie inside the elevator. As Abigail stepped in, Jamie quickly retreated to the corner.
Abigail lowered her eyes, trying to ignore the cold, imposing presence of Stephen. The elevator was eerily quiet, with a faint chill hanging in the air.
When the doors opened, Abigail waited for Stephen to exit first. But neither of them.
moved.
Jamie felt increasingly claustrophobic as neither Stephen nor Abigail moved to leave the elevator. He wondered why they couldn’t have their conversation outside.
Just as Jamie was on the verge of a mental breakdown, Stephen broke the silence.” Aren’t you heading home?”
Abigail replied, “I am, Mr. Lockhart. You can go ahead. I’m not in a hurry.”
Stephen responded, “If you’re not in a hurry, neither am I.
Abigail raised an eyebrow, feeling like she was dealing with a madman.
Jamie was speechless. Stephen was indeed out of his mind.
Soon enough, the elevator doors began to close again. Frustrated, Abigail pushed, past Stephen to leave. He caught her wrist and shot Jamie an icy glare.
Seizing the moment, Jamie quickly stepped out of the elevator.
He took a deep breath, feeling relieved to finally be free.
Abigail turned to Stephen with a frown. “What are you doing?”
Stephen looked at her and gently asked, “Have you given any thought to what I proposed?”
Abigail replied, “What proposal?”
Stephen said, “Living together.”
Abigail’s response was resolute, “That’s not happening.”
Not only did Stephen want her life, but now he was also trying to control her body.
She was infuriated that he thought he could get everything he wanted.
Stephen frowned deeply. “If we don’t live together, what’s the point of this

arrangement?”
Abigail countered, “Then let’s get a divorce.
Stephen’s expression grew even colder. As the elevator doors began to close again, Abigail’s frustration mounted.
“Mr. Lockhart, I’m trying to get home for dinner. Can you please let go?” she asked.
Stephen responded, “Actually, I’m heading out for dinner too.”
Abigail was exasperated. “Then go eat. Why are you holding me back?”
Stephen suggested, “Since we both need to eat, why don’t we do it together?”
“To hell with eating,” Abigail cursed inwardly
“No thanks,” she snapped and then forcefully yanked her arm away. With a stony expression, she walked out.
Stephen watched her leave with a dark gaze
At that moment, his phone rang. It was a call from Candace.
“Hello?” Stephen answered.
Candace’s gentle voice came through. “Stephen, are you off work yet?”
“Yeah, what’s up?” Stephen coldly asked.
Candace replied, “I’ve made some of your favorite dishes. Do you want to come over for dinner? I also have something to talk to you about.”
Stephen’s expression darkened even more. After a brief pause, he responded, ” Alright.”
Candace seemed delighted. “Great! I’ll see you soon!” she said.
After hanging up, Candace glanced at the dinner she had prepared and smiled. Then she noticed her outfit wasn’t quite right. She went to her closet, sifted through her clothes, and finally chose a burgundy V–neck dress.
