Chapter 97 Having Him Locked Up
As Abigail left the office, she sighed in relief when she saw that Stephen hadn’t followed her. She had been worried he might cause trouble again.
She headed toward the subway station. It was convenient to take the subway back to Maplewood Residence, as the terminal station was right there.
Just as she turned a corner, Abigail noticed someone familiar trailing behind her. She paused and looked back. It was the man who had saved her the night before and then unexpectedly apologized to her that morning.
She was puzzled about how he knew where she worked and why he was following her. Her fear grew as she had no idea what his intentions might be.
Her anxiety spiked, and she quickened her pace toward the subway station. Once she swiped her card to enter, she looked back and saw him following her inside.
Abigail’s heart raced as she took out her phone, ready to call the police if necessary. She hoped he was just coincidentally going the same way.
All the way to the final stop, Abigail was on edge. When she got off, she looked back. To her dismay, she saw him still trailing behind.
She sped up, aiming to get into Maplewood Residence quickly, where he wouldn’t be able to follow. But just as she was about to enter, she heard hurried footsteps behind. her.
Recalling an earlier incident where someone had grabbed her from behind, her face. went pale. She spun around and shouted, “What do you want from me? Why are you following me?”
At the same time, she dialed 911.
Ryan was taken aback by her sudden turn and was startled by her frightened expression. He quickly explained, “I just wanted to apologize. –”
Ryan’s words were cut off as Abigail’s call to the police was already connected.
“Hello? Police? Someone’s following me, and it seems like he’s up to something!” Abigail said quickly into the phone.
Ryan was caught off guard, and he took a step forward instinctively.
“Ah! Don’t come any closer!” Abigail screamed, stumbling back several steps.
On the other end of the phone, the police sensed the urgency and immediately asked

Ryan stood there, looking distressed. It seemed like his world was falling apart. He didn’t understand how things had escalated so quickly.
In less than ten minutes, the police arrived. Abigail quickly moved behind them and pointed at Ryan. “It’s him! He’s been following me!”
“Stay where you are. You’re coming with us, the police instructed.
Stephen arrived at the police station just as Ryan was being questioned. Ryan looked at him with a touch of grievance.
Stephen coldly asked, “What’s going on?”
The officer replied, “The lady in the next room refuses to settle this privately. Are you his friend? Can you handle this?”
“Yes,” Stephen responded, heading to the next room.
He opened the door to find Abigail sitting with a cup of water, talking with a female officer who was speaking to her kindly.
“Abigail,” Stephen called out, staring at her.
Abigail looked up, feeling surprised to see him. “What are you doing here?” She hadn’t called him. She wondered if he had followed her all the way here.
She was contemplating whether she could accuse him of stalking and even considered having him locked up as well.
