Chapter 146 You’re Going to Suffer in the Future
Abigail looked at Justin with a half–smile. “Would you dare say those things when he wakes up?”
Justin hesitated and fell silent. Glancing at the unconscious Stephen, he sighed. “Stephen, you’re going to suffer in the future.”
Abigail still showed no intention of letting them in. “Just go back to wherever you came from. You’re not welcome here.” With that, she lowered the baseball bat and slammed the door
shut.
Justin stood there, dumbfounded. After taking a deep breath, he supported Stephen resignedly and started to leave.
“Abbie…” Stephen muttered her name drunkenly.
Justin scoffed. “Your Abbie doesn’t want you anymore. It’s all your fault for constantly messing up.”
Back in her bedroom, Abigail was lying on her bed. She closed her eyes but found herself unable to sleep. Opening them. again, she stared at the ceiling, feeling somewhat disturbed.
Why did Stephen go drinking again? Wasn’t he supposed to be visiting Candace? Was he heartbroken because of Candace’s depression, blaming himself and seeking solace in alcohol? How touching.
Abigail’s face remained expressionless as she indulged in

these thoughts. Turning over, she tried to fall asleep again.

For the next few days, Abigail didn’t see Stephen. She continued working diligently as the project with Philip was nearing completion.
Once it was done, Abigail could finally resign. This time, he wouldn’t have any reason to force her to stay.
Abigail was sitting at her desk and sipping on coffee,
pondering what to have for dinner. Her phone rang, and she saw that it was a call from Eloise.
“Hello, Eloise.”
“Abbie, I messed up.” Eloise’s voice trembled with tears.
Abigail’s expression grew serious. “What happened?”
Eloise explained through sobs, “I hit someone, and now, they’re in the hospital. They might demand compensation…”
Abigail glanced at the time, stood up, and said, “Don’t panic. I’m coming to you right now. Which hospital are you at?”
After getting the hospital’s name, Abigail informed Lydia and left immediately.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Abigail found Eloise standing outside the ward, looking distressed. Abigail approached and checked Eloise over “Are you okay? Did you get hurt?”
Eloise shook her head. “I’m fine.”
Abigail sighed in relief. “Thank goodness…”

Eloise continued, “But the person I hit has a head injury. The doctor said he has a concussion They need to stay in the
hospital for observation and rest for a while.”
Abigail’s expression tightened. “What happened? How did things get so serious?”
Eloise sighed. “I went out with some colleagues for dinner and karaoke. I had a bit to drink. When I went to the restroom, I saw a man trying to force himself on a woman. I acted on impulse and hit him on the head with a fire extinguisher. And then…”
Abigail was speechless. “Is he inside?”
“Yes.”
Eloise looked at her pitifully. “Abbie, I’m scared. I don’t mind paying compensation, but what if I really hurt him badly?”
Abigail reassured her, “It’s okay. The chances of something severe happening are slim. Let’s go inside and take a look.”
“Okay.” Eloise stepped forward and pushed open the door to the ward.
Seeing the person on the bed, Abigail was taken aback. “It’s you?”
