Chapter 156 He’ll Hate You
After finishing his sentence, Zachary began to cough violently.
Sasha hurriedly supported him. “Honey, calm down. The investigation is still ongoing. Let’s just wait a bit longer.”
Abigail’s gaze remained fixed on Stephen, who was on the bed. However, the bodyguards came in and forcibly escorted her out. She watched as the door to the ward closed.
“Abbie!”
Eloise had just sent Justin back to his ward. As soon as she returned, she saw Abigail being pushed out. A pang of sympathy hit her.
Abigail said, “I’m fine.”
Heartbroken, Eloise hugged her. “I’ll stay here with you.”
Abigail shook her head. “It’s fine. You should go back. Justin’s not easy to deal with. If you upset him, you’ll be the one suffering.”
Eloise pursed her lips. “It’s alright. He’s not a kid. He’ll manage without me.”
Abigail smiled helplessly. “Just go, okay?”
With reddened eyes, Eloise said, “But Abbie, I want to stay with
you.
“Stephen’s still unconscious now, and there’s nothing we can do. I’ll take care of myself. Just go. If I need anything, I’ll reach
out to you.
Hearing that, Eloise gave in. “Alright then. Promise you’ll call if you need me.”
“Okay.”
After Eloise left, Abigail was still as tense as ever.
Her eyes were fixed on the door, her worry and anxiety evident. She didn’t even realize her hands were trembling slightly.
Suddenly, a commotion broke out.
“Get out of the way!”
Before Abigail could react, she was roughly shoved aside and slammed against the wall.
Stacy angrily glared at her. “You wench, you must’ve poisoned Stephen because he wouldn’t agree to the divorce!”
Candace said, “Stacy, stop it. Let’s go check on Stephen first.”
Her face was still pale, but she was visibly anxious.
Stacy gave Abigail another cold look and sneered, “Once Stephen wakes up, he’ll make you pay for this!”
With that, she entered the ward with Candace.
Abigail leaned against the wall, all color draining from her face. She suddenly recalled the look Stephen had given her before he fell unconscious. It was cold and filled with a
murderous intent. He obviously thought she was the one who poisoned him too!
Abigail’s heart ached sharply. She couldn’t believe he had
doubted her and looked at her like that. She would never poison him!
She felt a wave of coldness overwhelming her. It was as if she had plunged into an ice–cold abyss. She leaned against the wall, afraid that she would collapse if she didn’t.
The night passed, but Stephen remained unconscious.
No one came out from his ward, and Abigail didn’t receive any updates from the police regarding the food test.
It was a night of torment for everyone.
When Justin saw Abigail again, he was startled to see how -pale she had become.
“Have you been standing here all night?”
Abigail didn’t answer. She stared at the door with her bloodshot eyes.
Frowning, Justin suddenly said, “I did suspect you were the one who poisoned him.”
Abigail was stunned as she looked at him. “What about now?”
Justin responded, “I still have my doubts, but they’re beginning to waver.”
Abigail took a deep breath, the pain in her chest intensifying. “I didn’t poison him.”
Her voice was dry and hoarse.
Justin continued, “How can you prove your innocence? Abigail, if you can’t provide evidence to clear your name, Stephen will
