Chapter 160 Breakdown
Abigail’s tears soon drenched her face. She seemed to have just realized she was crying. She wiped her face and clenched
her fists.
“There’s no reason for me to cry, she muttered to herself.
But the more she tried to stop, the more the tears came gushing out.
Eloise quickly wrapped her arms around her. “Abbie, don’t cry. He’s not worth it.”
Abigail gripped Eloise’s arm so tightly that her knuckles turned white. “How could he not believe me? How could he? When I found him, he wasn’t like this.”
Stephen had never acted that way.
After losing his memories, he was in a blank state. There were times when he was curious and wary of her, but he had never looked at her with such cold, suspicious eyes before.
The current Stephen felt terrifyingly unfamiliar!
It was like a stranger had occupied his body, and it was torturing her!
Eloise gently patted her back. “People change. Men become different when they get wealthy. Abbie, you’ve already decided to divorce him. It’s time to let go.”
Abigail sobbed uncontrollably. “But I really loved him. How
could he do this to me?”
She couldn’t accept the reality of it. His words and his gaze felt like knives stabbing her heart, suffocating her.
Eloise couldn’t hold back her tears either. She silently cursed Stephen while trying to comfort Abigail and soothe her emotions.
The cab driver glanced at them, wanting to say something. But realizing that nothing he said would help, he simply handed
them some tissues.
Soon, they arrived at Maplewood Residence.
-Eloise helped Abigail out of the cab. Her crying had left her
gasping for air, making her even more exhausted.
Once inside her apartment, Abigail sat on the couch and sobbed quietly as she tried to calm down. She needed to let her emotions out. If she didn’t, she feared she might do something she’d regret.
Eloise poured her a glass of honey water. “Abbie, stop crying. Drink some sweet honey water and try to put all the unhappy things past you.”
“Thank you, Eloise. I’m really grateful to have you by my side.” Abigail looked at her gratefully.
Without Eloise, she truly didn’t know how she would cope.
Eloise said, “I told you that having me around would be useful. -But you tried to kick me out several times before this.”
“I was wrong.”
Abigai blinked her swollen eyes, looking at Eloise pitifully.
Eloise chuckled. “Alright, I forgive you. Drink the honey water and get a good sleep. When you wake up, you’ll still be as beautiful as ever!”
Abigail nodded. She really needed to get herself together. It wasn’t worth all this distress over Stephen.
Every time she thought of his cold gaze, her heart ached. She tried hard not to think about it.
Abigail set the cup down and went to her bedroom. She took a shower to wash away the fatigue and discomfort, then went to
bed.
She thought she would have trouble sleeping, but within five minutes of hitting the pillow, she was fast asleep.
Eloise stood at the doorway, glancing at her with a look of deep concern.
Just then, her phone rang. She looked at the screen and saw
that it was a call from Justin.
“What is it?” Eloise answered the phone, her tone cold.
Justin said, “You’re supposed to be my caregiver, but you left me all alone. Now, you’re asking me that question? Ms. Smith, have you forgotten what you did?“.
